I have a 1990 ford bronco with a 302 v8. I recently have done a lot of work to it to get it running, fuel pump, ignition module, plugs/wires, etc. I have no gotten it driveable, however, these are the symptoms.
Has hardly any power, before it would knock you back in your seat, now it takes forever just to get up to 25 mph.
When it finally does get to 25 mph, it has trouble shifting into 3rd and 4th, if I am gassing it, then let go of the gas for a second I can normally get it to shift gears though.
After about 10 minutes of driving like this, it starts to overheat, eventually the check engine light shuts off and the truck will just die.

I have checked the timing and re-done it, just to make sure, you line up the 0 on the scale (tdc) to the metal point at about 11 o'clock on the camshaft pulley. When I do so, the rotor in the distributor is perfectly on piston #1.

It also has a sort of loud clicking noise in motion with the engine from the left side, and sort of sounds like it has an exhaust leak.

When I bought it It had a receipt for transmission work that said "ck not switching gears" However when I got it the tranny has been perfectly smooth, I am good on all fluids.

It wont hold oil pressure either, the meter is cracked out, thinking about putting 20/50 in it.

I bought it for $500 so I could have some fun with it, any information is gladly appreciated.

Also when it over heats, smoke comes out of the engine from the dipstick hole when oil dipstick is removed.
