Ford Boss 429 Mustang?

I was wondering what year and why the Boss 429 mustang front end was redesigned. They both look good but I prefer the 4 headlamp edition. It's my favorite muscle car and can't find anything on the different style front ends.
 
the 69 had four and the 70 had two headlamps..they weren't much different from the regular line, with it's annual update..
