I have a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria. Lately I have noticed that the A/C compressor will not shut off when I set the control to "Vent" or "Off"

The compressor clutch is pretty much turning 24/7 when the car is on.

I am worried this will damage my compressor and lines will freeze over. Does anyone know what could be causing this malfunction?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Your lines will not freeze over, although the constant running of the compressor does what never-ending work does to all machines, wears it out faster.

Your crown vic just like most cars has an AC clutch relay in the fusebox. Chances are its toast, and stuck on, so try replacing that first, if it doesn't solve your problem then its in the AC Clutch assembly.
