For those that haven't done it yet

If you have not added the floorboard extenders you are missing out on a great ride. I put it off myself until now. I received mine from soos yesterday and installed this morning. Rode to and around town afterward. Great improvement on leg position. I am a shorter guy and it still help alot. I always like a wider foot position but my feet would barely be on the floorboards, sometimes slipping off. Now they stay on it and the riding comfort is really better. I added the 1" extenders myself. Thanks to soos for getting them to me. No matter who you get them from, I recommend trying them. Stay thirsty my friends

I wonder how much less you can lean with them on, but if you don't lean that much it sounds like a great idea. Especially if you lowered your shocks too. A good way to gain inches is to redo the seat, have some shaved off it.

When you extend your floor boards, does it make the brake and shifter levers any harder to use?

What about extending your floor boards forward?
Does anyone do that, or does everyone just extend them out?

I am leaning toward trying the 3/4" ones.

Are most doing the 1" or 3/4"? Which length do you prefer and why. Is your height a factor? 5 or 6 gallon tank a factor?

I have a set of the 3/4" inch ones and they were a great improvement. I used to get my right foot slipping off the board occasionally, but no more. I would probably be even more comfortable with the 1" extensions, but I dont want to scrape as I have the profile low rear shocks on also. I don't notice any difference with getting to the brake or shift levers. It does give me more usable space on the board though.

When you scrape the late model touring bikes, the first thing that hits is the rear footboard brace, not the board. Maybe it was designed that way on purpose so your foot wouldn't get knocked off causing loss of control, but you do scrape the heck out of that brace. If you are scraping the board itself also, you are really leaning over. Or falling.

i drag the boards and then the mufflers, haven't touched the brace.... but i run 40 psi in the shocks solo to get as much clearence as i can so maybe that keeps it off the brace?
