When Alexander took his cavalry and rode parallel to the Darius' front lines what was he really planning to do. I know he charge the gap and routed Darius but that was only a matter of circumstance. What were his original intentions had the gap not formed. Surely he wasn't planning to outflank his gigantic was he? Nobody would ever know but I would like your opinions.
