For once Bay doesn't disappoint.

Yeah, story was laughable at time, as was the character writing (Torturro was great, but his character was meh), but holy fuck, the special effects.
I think I'll go see this bitch at IMAX if they're still playing it.

PS
I'm talking about the long-ass GM commercial, not Transformers.

Oh yeah, Megan Fox. She's hot in pictures, but she's something entirely different in motion. Jesus fucking Christ.
and a group of jarheads holding of a 60ft alien robot with a couple of 40mm grenade launchers? After a few burst from a 30mm cannon firing depeted uranium rounds didn't do shit?
And the movie felt a little bit campy at time, but considering the movie's roots, I guess it was done on purpose - I didn't really mind it much.

Yeah, I must say didn't have high hopes for this movie.
I never followe to cartoons, and only have rudimentary knowledge of that Universe, but as far as I am concerned, they did a good job with this shit.
They managed to give the robots a human face, compete with emotions and all that noise, and that needs to be applauded. And I'm not just talking about special effects here. This isn't a fucking Gollum that has pretty much all the basic characteristics of a human, thoase robots were basically inanimate objects...

PS
The new Camaro is hot as fuck, and so is the Mustang.

on fox.

The fact that the robots had so little time on screen that they tried to maximize screentime with horrible one liners was . I hated that they were goofy every time they were on screen.

Yeah, I wish they chose a bit older target audience.
They did a great jobs on the robots, and could've easily used them as full fledged characters, not just comic relief or for action scenes only.

See if you can grab the first couple episodes of the original G1 series.

if you're content streaming them, here...missing the first episodes though. You can find them on youtube though.

http://www.tv-links.co.uk/show.do/2/2505

After watching the first couple episodes check out some of the multi part episodes from seasons 1 and 2 (ultimate doom, dinobot island, etc).

Then watch the cartoon movie. Animation and production value goes to shit for season 3 though Some are still worth a watch, but if you watch the origin episodes and a spattering of season 1 and 2 and then the movie you'll get a good feel for things.

If you're just wanting to read, the wiki is ok

The final battle was way too chaotic to tell wtf was going on (and thus really enjoy). I wish they would have toned that down a bit too. The Prime vs. Bonecrusher fight (albeit quick) was good, and then the first bumblebee vs. Barricade fight was also good.

True story. And I watched a fuzzy (albeit good for what it was) S, so that didn't help thing). Maybe it'll be cleared when it comed out in HD.
Bonecrusher was the tank or the heavy military truck?

Some of it would have been forgivable if they knew how and when to use it, but like that one review that I posted in my review thread said, you have the comedy relief to relieve you of some other tension in the movie...but there never was any kind of tension to relieve you from. Everytime they were on screen they were either beating the shit out of one another or slinging horrible one liners.
