for my art project i have to do a still life, any suggestions?

I have to do art coursework over the summer and it is to do 2 or more still lives.
i have to do one tonal one and one coloured one at least
i have done the tonal one - piano, guitar and trumpet, so like a musical theme
but i dont know what to do for the coloured one
i dont want to do fruit in a bowl *yawn* and it has to be something you can find in an ordinary household (i.e not a skull :P )
any suggestions will be really helpful
 
paint a broom in a cupboard with the door open... add really good detail like sadows,outlines, cracks, crevices, pockmarks, stains,etc...
