For Bakers/Cooks: Ever had a dish not liked?

I've been baking since this summer, and not a lot of people except for my family have really sampled my stuff. A couple of friends have tried something here or there, but for the most part, no. The friends that have tried something, actually loved whatever it was. My family really likes my stuff as well.
But today, we had a potluck in my last class for a teacher that's going away. Everyone brought something. I brought reverse chocolate chip cookies. Now here is maybe where I went wrong. A lot of people don't like white chocolate, and a lot of people don't like a rich chooclate flavour. Only a handful of people tried my cookies. Some liked them, some I'm pretty sure were lying when they said they did, one "friend" actually took it out of her mouth and gave it back to me proclaiming it was too sweet, and so on. I was kind of hurt, as this was my first thing that I shared with people.
The "from a box" cupcake and brownies did better then my cookies, so i was just kind of a bad end to the day.

Oh well! I suppose it bound to happen to some people :)
