My husband is seriously considering going into the military. Currently, he is a registered nurse in the Emergency Room Dept. If he joined, he would join the Army and attend the nurse anesthesia program in San Antonio, TX (about 13 hours away from where we live now...and all of our family is here). He spoke to the recruiter who said he would spend 3 years completing his anesthesia program in SA, TX--and then he would only be deployed for 6 months, and the last of his enlistment he would be back home...I don't believe the recruiter, of course they tell you what you want to hear. Anyways, I know it would be a good move financially for our family--but we have a 3 yr old, 2 yr old and a 3 month old...I don't know if I can do it alone while he is gone even if it only is for 6 months. What advice can you offer up as a military spouse? Should I encourage him to do it or talk him out of it?
oh, and the recruiter said he wouldn't have to go to boot camp or basic since he already has a degree, he'd be going in as a sergeant.
