For a Sweet 16, Is a dinner dance a good theme?

I was thinking that everyone would come in casual clothing but no jeans. Just like nice clothing and stuff. Is that a good idea or should I choose something else. I'm hopefully going to have it in a restaurant, who the owners I know.

What type of decorations and such should I put up as well?

Im going to try to get a cake in a heart shape that says Happy Sweet 16 Victoria..

Any comments, ideas, or sites would be so helpful!!

well you dont have to have dates thought. i forget to say that.. Its more like the dressing up part of the theme..
 
I think it is a great idea. Since your cake is heart shaped I think pink and white balloons and streamers, there some awesome party web sites out there. You could even have a dance contest.
