For a mechanic to answer? mitsubishi eclipse?

My husband is a mechanic, he says that mitsubishi's are generally good cars, his mum has one! and that 110,000 is below average for a car of that age and that most if not all cars will last for alot more than that mileage as long as they have been well maintained, he worked on a car today at work which had 260,000 miles and still running fine! all depends on previous owners and condition of car apparently. hope this helps :)
 
i'm thinking of buying a 97 Mitsubishi eclipse it has 110,000 miles on it i was told there not built to last for that many miles are they good cars explain
