Nad R,
A couple years ago there was a hot topic here about Monsanto and their
genetically modified soy beans. Started by notbod, iirc. Their pollen
has ended up cross-polinating the soy crop across property lines and
even state and country border lines, around the globe!
There is a lengthy 10 part video exposing Monsanto's unscrupulous strong
arm practices and dangerous products. It made me very upset.
Part One: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvGddgHRQyg
They actually got FDA approval for bovine growth hormone after a mere 90
days of testing on rats! So like it or not, the chances are good that
it's in your steaks and milk. Canada banned the hormone saying they
didn't believe the product (brand name Prosilac) was safe for humans.
They probably HAVE done it to corn by now.
Monsanto is so huge, it seems as though they have a license to
contaminate the entire planet.
There's probably a space billboard in orbit: "Planet Earth, by
Monsanto."
There should be a symbol for GM foods mandatory on product labels
except, every single food would probably need that symbol of
"distinction."
My senior high school project was on food additives. That meant I had
the whole school year to teach students what I was leaning and piss off
cafeteria staff. I know for sure that I indeed pissed off the cafeteria
staff!!! Got an A+ and waved goodbye with my diploma in hand!
For me it's a still a touchy subject but really deserved it's own
thread.
Best,
Andy
