so im gonna use this forum to vent sorry if im annoying..

Today out of bordem I decide to call rogers to add a small data plan so I can finally see what all the hype is about data on the pearl.. the rep sets me up with $15 1.5 MB of useage.. I ask her this sounds good for starters but how come i dont see this on the website.. she tells me she has no idea. so she tels me to turn on the bb and turn it back on in 3 mins and I will have internet access.

well as you prolly guess nothing.. so i call back and speak to I.T and they tell me they added on a data plan that is for PDA's or whatever and not for bb's, and customer service just closed 2 minutes ago.

I still dont have internet access and I have to call back tomorrow to have them switch to a bb data plan which is starting at $25 not $15.

Im so bitter that im going to call back tomor, remove the useless data plan they gave me and sitck to just a voice plan.

Sorry about that Mike. It's unfortunate that Canadian data plans are so expensive. As far as getting set up with the wrong type of plan.....unfortunately, it happens all the time.
 
When you call F'N Rogers make sure you tell the recorded voice "BlackBerry" as many times... Its the only way to get to them...

Otherwise you end up with cellular customer service...
 
I got the $5 navigate plan and you get 5mb and just use wap browser and msn programs. Unless you want the email stuff which i don't use.
 
i have the 10mb plan...works fine on the pearl using the bb browser or opera. also have the zagat to go app and the gmail app.
 
i'm paying 5.00 for 10mb

it's the vision mobile data plan for vision/hsdpa phones. i swap with a pearl/w810i but just told them i have an hsdpa phone (google for an hsdpa imei just in case, but they never questioned it) and the rep added the plan for me.
 
i just went through this all with Rogers BB support yesturday.

if this data plan is like the Navigate Data plan it will not work with the Pearl.
 
it is the navigate data plan. they'll say it doesn't work with a blackberry because they want to charge you more for a blackbery plan. it works fine. data is data.

at att where i work, we charge people extra for pda plans as opposed to a medianet plan (for regular phones) eventhough they provision the exact same things.
 
Opera Browser, Gmail Mobile, viigo and a $10-10MB plan works fine as kind for me, plus I have the BB WAP browser if I reaaaaaally wanna use it..no reason too..but its there....why is it taking ppl so long to catch onto this idea...like steva11 said..data is data they cant tell the difference when your using it they all access the same APN from the device (internet.com)..the only APN thats not gonna work is the BB APN(blackberry.net).
