FM transmitter

Hi,
anyone know if there are any android devices that have FM-transmitter?
Need a Android device that can transmit music over FM to my car stereo.

Thanks!

Mr. T

I don't think any Android phones do this natively, but there are a number of third-part add-ons that work with any mobile phone (either via the headphone socket, or via bluetooth) that then transmit via FM to your car radio.

Someone above said the HTC Aria has one, but to me looking at the specs it's an FM receiver (for listening to the radio on), not an FM transmitter (to transmit MP3s to your car stereo).

Oh, sorry. I misread that. However, you would still be able to use the 3.5 mm port to connect it to something in the car?

Yeah there are loads of FM transmitter devices that work on any device that uses a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. For example: http://www.amazon.com/iriver-AFT-100-Mobile-Transmitter/dp/B00067LYFW/

I don't want to carry around an external FM-transmitter. I'll probably go with an N900 if no one can point me to a android device that has an built in FM-transmitter

I have to say though - an FM Transmitter as a deal-breaker feature is the most bizarre reason I've ever heard for not getting a particular phone.

You'd have so much more fun and be able to do so much more with an Android phone versus a Nokia - take it from me - my last phone was a Nokia's flagship at the time.

Why not get one of those cheap $30 dedicated MP3 FM Radio Transmitters and carry that around with you, and get a totally cool phone that's 100x better than a Nokia N900?

It's a key feature for me that uses it 8-10 hours a day for mp3, internet radio and navigation.

I'll probably gonna get the Nokia and then reconsider a Android device when a device becomes available with FM-transmitter.

Unfortunately an FM Transmitter is a rarely requested feature. It's also not legal to use such phones in many countries (some you would need a license for). I know in the UK as recent as 10 years ago these devices used to be illegal. Maybe that's changed now. So there's not even a worldwide market for it.

Also this technology has been replaced by the likes of BlueTooth (which nearly all new phones have), even DLNA. Many entertainment systems in new cars come with BlueTooth connectivity.

My point is, you may be waiting a loooonnng time for another phone, Android or otherwise, to come out with an FM Transmitter.

Still, I wish my phone had one!
