FLV video file problem?

Whenever I try to play .flv video files it always ends up being all pixelated with pink and purple pixels, but the audio works fine. When I try to convert it to another format like .avi or .mp4, it just also ends up being all pixelated and pink and purple pixels! Please help how can I fix this! TY
