fluid to your discs as you sleep

A doctor gave a presentation to our company on lower back pain.

He said something to the effect that, as you sleep, fluid goes to your discs. Then as you are standing, walking, sitting, the fluid gets pushed back out.

Does this explain why I am in so much intense pain (feels like structural disc pain, if you know when I mean) when I wake up up, and it takes over an hour to get through that level of pain?

I don't know, but you sure described me on my typical morning. Easily the worst pain ever!

I'll be curious to see if anyone else posts and can enlighten us about this.

One thing, for about 4 months I got TREMENDOUS relief from glucosamine with chondroitin. Supposedly, the thinking is that gluc/chon helps with that hydration in your joints. I thought I had discovered a miracle after 5 years of suffering. Unfortunately, it didn't last. When I could no longer deny that my lousy mornings were back, I cried.

:(

I have had that pain upon waking, its like when you stand up the discs all stack down, and gravity takes its toll. And squeezes~~~~~~~~
The extreme pain, takes a few hours to dissipate....
