I honestly don't know when I will get answers. I posted a back in Oct when thi problem of fluid retention first occurred and unfortunately it still is an issue. I have been to my Primary Care Dr who sent me to the Er intially when I was swollen all over and my respiration level dropped. On my own I sought out the help of an Allergist, thinking maybe I was allergic to something. This was negative he felt it was cardiac. I went back to my Cardiaologist, who I have been seeing quite frequently because he is concerned at how I am retaining fluid. He has went from putting me on Lasix 20mg every other day to every day to now when my weight is at a cetain point I take 40 mg and something else 20mg and when it is another weight nothing. I have to keep a daily weight chart. Well, I am tying my darnest to lose weight but I keep gaining. But then this week I was pleased I lost ten pounRAB in one week! I finally could fit in some of my clothes again. That was until this morning when I weighed myself I gained ten pounRAB. How can this be? I am sick of this! I wish they can help me. I am researching and trying to help myself. I called my primary care and asked for blood work for a diabetes test. I did this because my vision is blurring I am very thirsty the weight gain plus in runs in my family. I really don't know anymore. I am grasping at straws.

Cardiac tests were run at the Er. I tested Negative for the stress and the Echo. I have chest pains on some days and I can correlate to the weight gain.

Any suggestions? I need to stop gaining weight. I honestly can go all day without eating and I will still gain a lot of weight.

Thanks

I"m so sorry to hear about all the trouble you're going through and that your doctor can't find the answer yet.
I know your frustration and can sympathize with you.
I don't have the symptoms you're going through but have other medical things going on at once.
there are some days where I can barely make it through the day without feeling some sort of pain in my body or weakness or just having a difficult time breathing.
Some medical cases can't be discovered right away and takes time to diagnose it.

Has your doctor referred you to a kidney specialtist yet?
How are you lab reports?
I see you mentioned you have a family history of diabetes.
This is extremely important for your doctor to know and to follow up with you through out your life time.

Have you tried an endocronologist yet?

I commend you on your determination to keep your body healthy by eating right and keeping your weight at a healthy level, and I can't imagine the feeling of finally losing ten pounRAB and only to step on the scale so soon only to find the 10 pounRAB come back on over night.
Don't be discouraged about this because it sounRAB like water weight.
It's not through failure of not doing something right, but something faulty in your system that's the cause of the problem.

Don't give up until you get an answer. even if you have to find a new doctor or if you have to try different areas of specialtists who WILL find the answer.

One can get very disgusted with the doctors if we can't get an answer right away, I know, because I've experienced it first hand.

Oh, I also wanted to mention to you too, if you already don't know this, that if a person consumes very little food in a day, that the food you DO eat, the body will hold onto and store it as fat, as a safety mechanism like it's going into a starvation mode. I'm trying so hard to describe what I learned years ago, so don't quote me word for word.
When I learned this little bit of info on dieting, I was shocked!
It makes sense.
The body does this to protect itself.
we actually will lose more, if we eat tiny, multiple meals through out the day and guess what? just by taking a walk and getting your heart rate up, it will make your metabolism burn for hours later, but we aren't even aware of this.

Have you been to a nutritionist? perhaps they can guide you in the direction of the proper fooRAB to eat and what's making your body produce the excess fluid?
Are you taking any form of new supplement or diet pills or herbal products?
I'm grabbing at straws too if you're wondering why I'm asking you all these questions.

I really wish you the best and hope that you get to the bottom of your problem soon. Please come back to give an update, so we know what happened. I'm very interested in finding out what's the cause and what they can do for you.
Hang in there hon. You'll get through this....

AngelJoanne,

I do feel you pain, I am actually going throught the same problem. I have gained alot of weight (more than 10 I am sorry to say). I did see a new cardiologist last week. This is the same cardiologist who was treating my soon to be ex husband. This man is the nicest and kindess cardiologist I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I can tell you that when he found out what has been going on in my life for the last year, he was not at all surprise that I am now having issues.
He explained that "yes stress can be a cause of my current issues", however, he explained that "stress" does cause physical ailments that do need to be treated. He also explained that my body is going through some major hormonal changes (currently going through menapouse) and this is actually the time when most women do developed some type of cardiac issues.
He is concerned about the weight gain, he is also concerned because my blood pressure was throught the roof and my heart rate was very fast.
He immediately put me on blood pressure medication, along with ordering a event monitor (a heart monitor you wear 24 hours a day and when you feel any type of symptom, you push the bottom and record the event.), I am also scheduled for a cardiac stress echo next week and I have to return to him the next day to go over all the test results and to check to see how the pressure is on medication.
The suggestion from NY 1099 is a very good one to see a endocrinologist if you think that you may have diabetes, they are also good in testing your thyroid funtion which can also a cause for weight gain.
Keep pushing your doctors until you have received sufficient answers to your questions. You know your body and if you think that there is something wrong, than you need to find out what it is. Maybe start keeping a daily log on how you feel each day and when you feel some type of symptoms, look back and see what you did or ate the day before. You may be able to catch a common donominator to what triggers symptoms and what actually makes you feel well.
Let me know how you are doing.
