In his book Botany of Desire, Michael Pollan references a flower with the term "prostitute". He uses this term in reference to the flower because it is striped like that of a bee and therefore attracts the bee, so that it can be pollinated. Hey may or may not give the scientific name of the flower. I would like to do a project on this plant for my botany class but when I simply google the information that I have listed here, I cannot find what this flower is actually called (latin or common name). I do not have the book on me otherwise I would look it up. Any ideas are appreciated! Thank you!
