I am almost 20 years old and about 10 or so months ago I developed a good deal of eye floaters. (If you dont know what they are consider yourself lucky as hell). Since I was only 19 with heathy eyes and body with 20/20 vision I couldnt for the life of me figure out why I got them. I was just thinking that accutane may be to blame. (Although i am not sure and havent read anything related besides a few testimonies). I took accuane about 5 years ago so it was probubly 4 years after I stopped taking accutane that the floaters developed. I know that accutane is known to have long lasting side affects, and since it drys the skin and eyes I was wondering if there may be a correlation. So I was just wondering if anyone else has developed eye floaters after taking accutane. (Not just immediatly after but in the following years as well).

I got mine after a high period of stress. So that could be it. While I was on accutane I didnt experiance any symtoms other then dry skin and getting easily sunburned. My vision is good and has never been an issue as of yet. Its just the floaters. Other then that I see 20/20. I think it may be stress more then anything else. Like I said it was 4-5 years since i stoped taking accutane when they developed and I havent noticed any other side effects that I know off. I undertand they can cause long lasting side effects but from my knowledege the side effects usualy happen while taking it or shortly thereafter and continue. Plus majority of people dont have any long lasting side effects and the drug is a savior. I'm no expert but it dosnt seem likley that somthing would pop up years down the road, but like I said I'm no expert. As with your husband. hes 38, hair loss is common and many people have vision problems when they approach 40. I dont think you can single out accutane.

My husband took Accutane when he was 16 years old. He started losing his hair after he starting taking the medication. He had to go to a hair specialist when he was 21 because it was so bad. Nobody loses their hair that bad at that age. He still has problems with it. Also, he has a problem with having dry lips and skin. He said he never had these problems until he took the medication, Accutane. He is constantly having to use a moisturizer on his skin. There is definitely a connection between taking the medication and his dry skin and hair loss. He will have these problems for the rest of his life.

My derm tried to put me on Accutane. Thank Goodness, I married my husband or I would have taken the medication, thinking my doctor knew better (I only have mild to moderate acne). My husband and I told my doctor that taking Accutane would never be an option. People definitely minimize the long lasting side effects of Accutane just to feel better about taking the medication for acne.

Try some vitamin E and lutein for the eye floaters. Use good quality not Ronco junkque

All Accutane does to your eyes is cause dryness. I have never heard of Accutane causing eye floaters and it is very unlikely that they would develop so long after you got off of Accutane. Side effects after Accutane only appear (at most) a year after you've been on it.

The after effects of Accutane can last the rest of your life. Accutane has been known to effect the night vision of people on the medication. So it can cause visionary problems like you are experiencing.

My husband took Accutane when he was 16 years old. He is now 38 years old. He still is experiencing side effects from taking the medication. He complains of dry lips and skin, hair loss and vision problems.

Side Effects can last the rest of your life. Be careful. My husband if he had known then what he knows now would never have considered taking the medication.

I made an account just to reply to you. I am 24 years old, always had eye sight problems and eye floaters. Got lasik, everything with my eyes are fine except very faint floaters in the very early morning.

I went on accutane once, around 20, with no problems(was on it for about a month). It worked so quickly, I convinced myself my skin was just getting better by itself and it had nothing to do with the drug, sadly that wasn't the case. I did it again years later, I noticed immediately that my floaters were getting stronger, and at almost all hours of the day. I also encountered nightmares, which sometimes involved waking myself up from the dream and encountering hallucinations for a few seconRAB.. I believe the accutane caused me to wake myself up unwanted and my mind got stuck in the REM state for a few moments.. theres some technical term for it (it didn't bother me much, I knew it was the drug, the only thing that annoyed me was waking up due to the nightmares, and the eye floaters. the hallucinations were cool, if anything. haha). I stopped. I went to the doctors for reason of floaters, they told me it was not really possible and they have no idea what I'm talking about. Do not listen to them, It is possible. Do you know how I know?
because my eye floaters went back to normal.. My doctors insisted accutane was safe, so i restarted taking it weeks ago. guess what.. my eye floaters are heavy again, and are at all hours.. I can see them as I type. However, no more nightmares, no more hallucinations. I am willing to put up with the eye floaters, as long as they do not get worst than this..

in your situation, I don't think its because of the accutane. it should happen instantly, I feel. I don't think it'll happen years later, if anything, it should heal.

MORAL OF THE STORY.. there is a reason why when you put in the word "Accutane F" it automatically puts floaters.. people search it, because people experience it. I am 100% sure my eye floaters are related to my accutane use.

i am 21 and have never been on accutane and i have eye floaters too. i heard that they can be caused by intense stress .. i have absolutely no idea how i got them either, but since ive never been on accutane i know its not an effect of using it. much like acne, theres no cure for floaters either!! im sorry that you have them..because they honestly are the most annoying things ever, but i feel ur pain!!
