If this is the wrong board, I apologize, but something tells me that is not the case.
I'm pretty sure that I've had either GAD and/or PTSD for a few years now. I have gotten a handle on the vast majority of the panic attacks...but something new started happening.
The last few near-miss panic attacks (my name for when I start getting the fight/flight response: tensing up, increased breathing, sweating, and other indicators of sympathetic activation enough to notice, but not in an incapacitating manner like a full blown attack) have happened as I was laying in bed trying to go to sleep. As I lay there, I feel my muscles tense, get that jittery feeling that accompanies elevated blood pressure, and kick the covers off because I wanted to cool off. That's all nothing new. But 6 times as I lay there doing my calming exercises, it was like someone set off a camera flash close to my face, but above it. Each one was about 30 seconRAB apart and was present for a very brief amount of time. It was like seeing a flash through closed eyes as well with the red tinted lens flare type image.
I sleep on my chest, with my head in the crook of my arm, forehead laying on the back of my hand. I just shrugged it off as some strange floater type thing knowing that pressure on the closed eye can cause you to "see" some strange things. It happened a few more times, and I had the same reaction. Then, last night, I was laying on my back with my. HanRAB behind my head and it happened again.
Now to the question: is this related to the omg levels of anxiety that I have going on or might it be indicitive of something else?
Thank you for your time.
