Flashed HTC Hero to Cricket on Android plan but not Data connection.

I am somewhat at a loss as to what to try next regarding getting the Data to work on my HTC Hero on Cricket service.

(On the $45 plan)
I have a rooted and flashed (Text/Talk/Web) according to a page on Howard forum. I created a Proxy shortcut and connected with no issues except for market, youtube, etc. I also changed the DATA settings in EPST to match Cricket.

Now I changed my plan to the $55 Android plan. I deleted my proxy shortcut as it would not be needed with the Android plan and confirmed on three separate occasions I am actually on that plan. I now have no DATA connection to speak off. I can can see one too two bars in EV but no 3G.

I have rechecked and checked again my settings but can not determine why I can not connect. I even tried loading a custom ROM in an attempt to correct the issue (Fresh ROM 2.4) but ended up removing it as the same lack of connection issue existed.

I contacted Cricket technical by phone and got the same "we do not guarantee web service on a flashed phone" story.

I am not running autostart or any other program I can determine to be causing my issue and have done a factory reset several times.

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

How is the phone listed in CID? As the Zio? If not you will only have the regular $55 plan. If you log in to your account and for your device if it says anything but the Zio or CPE Android then you need to have the model changed in CID.
You can also browse through many of the other threaRAB here in the PDA forum "where I moved this thread to" that will cover the procedures for the u2nl and autostart.sh files. There's even a zip file linked in the big Hero/Eris thread that will load those for you. As for ROMs it is personal choice but Damage control V1.1 is confirmed to be the only working MMS. For the EV or 3g icon, that is ROM dependent. In damage control it is an EV icon, in the CM6 2.2 Froyo ROMS it's a 3g icon.
