Flash player for iPhone 3G?

I've heard that Apple is currently negotiating with Adobe to release a flash player for the iPhone. If this is true, will I be given the opportunity to download it to the iPhone I already have or would I have to get a new iPhone completely? Do you think it'll be sold like an app?
