I was giving someone's car a jump start. My car's hood fell down unexpectedly and hit the jumper cable assembly in such a way that it left a small, coin sized dent in the underside of the hood. The effect is a very small bulge sticking up from the hood and a bit of cracked paint.

Can I fix this myself? If so, how?

Best to get a dent repair service to do it, takes a certian knack to do it without repainting. of course if you want to repaint your whole hood you can do it yourself, if you have the tools & place to paint.

If you have a chip in the paint, you should take it to a body shop and get the hood repainted or it will eventually be a rust hole.

No good deed goes unpunished.
