There are more than five reasons to have the Nokia 1020 in your hand, but five is a good number to start with. While, there could be the illustrative reason- the camera, the phone offers above par reasons to own it. Sure, it’s a Windows phone and compared to the big boys of Apple and Android, the apps are lagging. Not horribly so, the Windows app store boasts the more popular apps of its massive competitors. In addition there are strong features that makes this phone an incredible buy.
1. The Camera Holds Strong in Busy Subways
You know how the New York City subway is! It truly is a busy transportation valley. ‘Engadget’ shared the story of a vacationing family. With their Androids in hand, the family was becoming frustrated with the blurry picture, low lights and inability to perfect the picture. Enter Prince Charming with his handy dandy Nokia Lumia 1020. With one focus and huge smiles, the picture was taken and Windows fans were born. The 1020 shooter takes picture quality to another whole level of awesome.
2. The Nokia Lumia 1020 is Hand Friendly
With the colossal screen of smartphones entering the market, the Nokia Lumia 1020 is the phone to have if you don’t like carrying a mini tablet. It provides a 4.5-inch screen with an amazing 768 x 1280 AMOLED technology. Those images are basically “poppin!” from the screen. The PureMotion HD+ technology gives this a nice enhancement for consumers.
3. Look Ma, No Hands on the Charger!
Tired of carrying cords and plugs around? Visit Amazon for the Wireless Charging Cover for the Lumia. The coil ties into your wireless charger and done! Microsoft is only selling the black at this point, but if you don’t care about appearances when you’re charging, it’s a very handy accessory and definitely a great item to have on the go.
4. Gorilla Glass 3 Makes its Debut on the 1020
Gorilla Glass isn’t new, after all over 30 manufacturers use it, but the Gorilla Glass 3 is new and it’s sporting some nice advances. The glass is tougher, Corning states, “its atomic configuration is formulated so that the glass is more durable, and fundamentally tougher and more damage resistant even before chemical strengthening.”  In addition, the Gorilla Glass 3 sports a few advantages:

  • Improved on how much force is required to start a scratch by 3 times
  • 40 percent reduction in the ‘lateral cracks’ (the serious nails and keys ones)
  • 40 percent  increase of the force required to break the screen when lateral scratches do occur.
5. Productivity Still Wins
The productivity of Windows still remains a very popular feature on the 1020. The business apps:  Adobe acrobat reader free download, Lync (Corporate IM) free download, SkyDrive storage for documents and notes, Company Hub for enterprise applications, Office apps: Excel, Word, Powerpoint and OneNote.  The syncing capability with the Mac companion app is also pretty nice. Add in the XBox Live Hub and the phone remains a contender.
Wrap Up
The Nokia Lumia 1020 is a phone to have! Between the enhanced and debut of the Gorilla Glass 3, the impressive productivity line-up and most of all the camera? This phone packs a pretty impressive punch to draw over naysayers from Android and Apple.
