I have a friend who fishes near a dow chemical plant. I've went with him a few times but only for catch and release. My buddy keeps everything he catches, but I just refuse to eat these fish. If it was chemicals in the water I would think all the fish would be dead. But its the complete opposite, these red fish are in there plentiful. you could easily catch 10-20 reds in 30 minutes. What do you think about this water? Could it be contaminated but not strong enough to kill the fish. Like I said I refuse to eat these fish but my buddy eats alot from this area.

Chemical plants aside, I make it a rule of thumb to eat fish only from mountain streams and lakes that have nothing built near them.

I wouldn't eat them either. The fact that the fish don't look sick doesn't mean a thing. They probably have lots of chemicals accumulated in their bodies. These chemicals may only affect them or the ones eating them in the long run. Anyway, it's much safer not to eat them. Your friend may not have a problem now, but he will, say, in a few years. Let's hope not though. Good luck.
