Where is Smith Mountain Lake? You need to check with your local wildlife department or fish & game department in whatever state the lake is in to find out what the regulations are. I know in Idaho, where I live, different waters within the state have different fishing regulations, and the cost of a license depends on whether or not you are a resident of the state. But every state does it differently.
