Just because a front moves through doesn't necesarilly mean they wont bite, there just a little more picky. You can pull up just as many fish durring or after a front than any other time with the right baits and techniques. As for the fish getting back to normal ive experienced times that a few hour wait is enough while other times it takes a full day. Thats why I dont so much worry about it like i used to, you just never know.
When fishing durring a time like this throw bulkier baits and fish them slower than what you normally would. My favorite bait to use would have to be a 3/4 ounce or even a 1/2 ounce jig with a chunk trailer (jig & pig). Cloudy and overcast days throw darker colors like crawfish, black with blue, and pumpkinseed. On sunny days go with natural colors like shad and brighter like chartruese and baby blues.
Sometimes a bigger double bladed spinnerbait will pull them out nicely also (when fish are fairly shallow).
