My goldfish recently had red sores over his tail and some of his fin/back, so I read some of the Yahoo questions/answers and people recommended Melafix. However, I went to Petsmart (I know, not too great of a choice...but some employees are good) and they recommended the "ick killer" ones, but we went for the more expensive T.C. Tetracycline medication.
After dosing my goldfish for about a week, everything seemed a lot better except ONE red bump on his back. By this time my fish seemed a bit too "OD'd" on the medication, so I stopped. The next day, sores came back again pretty much instantly.
I decided to drop in the powder package again and the sores seem to be gone now, but his tail is deteriorating and he has lost ALL appetite. I purchased frozen shrimps for him since they suppose to like it more, but that did not work and he is still not eating.
It has been 2-3 days since he stopped eating and he seems a bit slower each day. The good thing is the sores aren't coming back, but he is just not eating, which could also harm him a lot.
I'm hoping someone experienced can help me because I will be devastated if anything happens
You can basically say he has been sick for 2 weeks now.
