First year of GM's 3800 Plastic Intake Manifold?

What year did GM start using the failure prone plastic manifold on the 3800 engine? I thought it was with the 3800 Series II which came out in '95, but I just looked at a '93 LeSabre (3800 Series I) and it has the plastic intake manifold. 1991 and 1992 also 3800 Series I equipped GMs don't have the plastic intake. Can someone clear this up?
 
I got a 95 series 1 and also a 97 series 2, both with plastic intake manifolds.
