First Upper Molar extracted, Braces as a solution?

Hi, my first upper molar was extracted recently, extraction was chosen because a root canal would have been far too expensive for me, costing 10 times as much as an extraction.
I am merely 20 years old and it is depressing to have such an important tooth gone, but i was in too much pain with it, now what are my options to replace that tooth?
Besides an implant, simply because the thought of having a metal rod in my mouth is uncomfortable
Is it possible to use braces to move my 2nd molar and wisdom tooth forward?
(my wisdom tooth is not impacted but it is angled a little bit differently than my other molars)
And exactly what will happen if I do nothing about it? I've read that my 2nd molar will start to tip, but I've also read otherwise.
Thanks for your input.
