My first traithlon is coming up soon and I'm still in limbo with what bike I'll be using. I have a mountain bike, but 1. it's a mountain bike, 2. needs new seat and seat post, 3. need to change the tires and tubes for road racing, 4. it's a bit small (I'm 6'2) and it's a 158 cm. My alternative is to buy a used road bike on craigslist for about 200 dollars. It will be a low end road bike no doubt, but is it better than putting road parts on my mountain bike? Should I piece together my mountain bike or get an older (vintage) road bike for my first triathlon??
