I'm 16 and me and my boyfriend of one year have talked about having sex soon....I'm not on birth control so we'd only use a condom, and we probably wouldn't have sex very often. Is this safe? And is it safer to have sex after my period??

yea its safe to just use a condom

bascially if you use a condom right
and your boyfriend is honest if the condom breaks

then you shouldnt be getting pregnant any time soon
just make sure that you dont get lazy and just decide to do it without a condom like so many retards out there..and then end up getting pregnant because OOOPS he forgot to put it on..

you should check your menstural cycle
it will let you know what days you are most likely to get pregnant and what days you arent

but just because on some days you arent likely to get prego
doenst mean that you dont have to still use protection
cause accidnets happen

also if you start taking birth control
i reccomend the nueva ring
because i prefer it more then othro tri cyclen
because that stuff makes you fat and angry.

Condoms aren't 100% safe because they do break. If it were me, I would go on birth control as well as using the condoms. The time you're most likely to get pregnant is fourteen days after the first day of when your period starts. So the best time to have sex is right after your period ends and right before it starts.

If used correctly, condoms are very affective as a form of contraception. There isn't really a time when having sex is 'safer', but there might be slightly less chance of you getting pregnant right at the beginning of your cycle, just after your period. After a while you may want to start on some form of hormonal contraception though.
