I am going up the Poudre Canyon(in Northern Colorado) to an unimproved campground. Its very quiet, not many people are up there and its way back in the woods. I was wondering what are some essentials that I will for sure need. Also what about the dangers. What should I do about the mountain lions and bears up in that area? Any help is much appreciated.

Are you backpacking in and out? Make sure you have some way to deal with rain if it happens, for your tent etc and wet clothes. If there is wildlife in the area in unimproved campgrounds you should tie all food stuffs that smell (anything not in a can really) plus hygenic stuff, soap, toothpaste etc, that also smells, in a bag or container, throw a rope over a tree then hoist that up. If it attracts animals the idea is they will leave after not being able to get to it. This is if there is no bear box.

Make sure you have adequate food and fuel to cook it. Make sure you have water purifying tablets or something if you have to get water from a local source.

If you're not backpacking in and out, just put whatever extra stuff you can think of in the car.

all u need for camping is some clothes, bug spray, sun screen, bathroom necessities , snacks, and sneakers as for the dangers just keep a fire going and idk i've never been there.
