Aight well I want a cellphone! Woot.

I'm already set on a monthly plan as prepaid doesn't appeal to me. I'm not a chatterbox and don't need some expensive plan for $60+ a month. Phone-wise, I'm stumped as to whom to look at. I'm keen to a flip phone with an external display for starters. I'm interested in one with multimedia functions. Camera is fine either/or but I'd like to get access to the net. Sports and whatnot specifically. Also MP3-playing capabilities would be sweet. Ringtones, wallpapers, graphics, themes, etc. is also a must. Price isn't too much of an issues but would like a limit at about $125-$150.

If I can ask about plans here, I was wondering if there is any carries that offer individual plans under $35-$40 a month.

Thanks!! I'll still research but would like additional help!!

well first off ... ur not gunna get much with $125-150 .... for a nice phone are ur looking at least $400-800 up to as much much as $1500 ....

ohh ur gunna sign a new plan ... ya they are cheaper when u sign for 3 years cuz then they have u by the balls for three years in a contact you cant get out of unless u wanna fork over alot of money .... where are you located ? different carrier have different phone ... but that doesnt mean u have to get a phone from the carrier there are all kinds of unlocked phones for sale here in the buy/sell threads and on ebay...

if ur in the usa then most contracts for 2 years but in canada rheir three years for you a sony ericsson z520 is good for you has everything and then some i have a motorola v330 i bought it for 80 but free with a contract and it has everything also that u need the v330 is similar to the v551 and v547 fyi

It would help to know what area you live in, so we could tell you who has the best coverage, reception, etc. where you are. Most carriers plans are going to start around $35-40. Examples:

Cingular: 450 min with Rollover, Unlimited mobile to mobile, 5000 night & weekend, $39.99

Verizon: 450 min, Unlimited mobile to mobile, Unlimited night & weekend, $39.99

Sprint: 400 min, Unlimited night & weekend, $34.99

US Cellular: 500 min, $39.95

T-Mobile: 300 min, Unlimited weekends (NOT nights), $29.99

The carrier you choose will obviously have an effect on your phone choices. The Sony Ericsson z520a, which was mentioned above, is a flip phone with camera, speakerphone, bluetooth, and IR port. You could get one for under $100 with a new activation, but it's only offered by Cingular in the US. You could get an unlocked version and use it with T-Mobile, but the phone wouldn't work at all with CDMA carriers like Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular.

Well my location is in PA. I've check all of the major carriers and service from Verizon, Cingular, and Sprint is in my area.

Two questions though, if I would get a plan from like Cingular, could I call people from the Verizon or Nextel networks?

Also, I'm 17 and plan on paying for the $40/m plan myself but don't have a credit card. Would it by fine putting in one of my parents name and giving them the $$$ to pay?

Can you call people on Verizon or Nextel? Of course. Will it be free? No.

Sure, you could have one of your parents open the account for you, if they're willing to do that. If you did it yourself, you'd almost certainly have to pay a deposit.

You can call anybody..but it's only free if it is VZW to VZW or Cingular to Cingular ect.. for Verizon i recommend the LG VX8100, and for Cingular i don't recommend that SE Z520a simply because of the keypad layout..i would get the Motorola V557 or the LG C2000.
