First Service at Dealer Required

Thanks to everyone for the great advice. I'm really glad to hear so many have done the first service themselves. I've decided to go ahead and do the service myself. I'll buy all of the fluids at the dealership and save and clearly mark the receipt "1k service", just in case there are questions. Thanks again!

I did the same as You did, But I think it cost Me $140. I wanted the first service documented by the dealer for any warranty repairs that may be needed.

+ 1 do it yourself, get a service manual, keep recipts and document your service. I don't trust the Harley techs at all. Look at what you get for service, 80% is "inspect" this and that. Buy a belt tension tool, oil filter wrench, torque wrench, and the special wrench to losen/tighten the rear axle nut without taking the mufflers off and your good to go.

+2 on the do it yourself but I would say to spend the $60 on the service manual... That way you have all of the torque specs and they have a good checklist for the service intervals...
