had severe sciatic pain in right leg this has subsided after 4 weeks to a dull pain down my leg.the problem is my foot it was nurab at first then after a couple of weeks became very itchy now i have a burning tingling sensation which is annoying and moderately painful.doc put me on anti inflams and oxycontin oxynorms for pain.when first diagnosed 2 yrs ago as having herniated disc l5 s1 i never had an episode this bad,had a few sore days but the usual shorter gait stretches would ease tightness in leg.can anyone shed any light on foot problem or any info into what people have found helpful would be greatly appretiated, wish all a happy pain free day

ps seen a device called backrack on interweb has anyone used this and is it any good

Hi Whitty and welcome to the boarRAB!
Sorry you have been feeling so bad. Your pain may be that the herniated disc is now pressing on the nerve. Your pain certainly sounRAB nerve related. I don't know what a "backrack" is but if I were you I would see your doctor before you use anything that may do permanent damage to your back. You need a current MRI to determine exactly what your problem is now. Good luck to you and keep us posted.

the back rack thing is just something iv come across on internet goin to speak to doc about it first deb like you say. this message board is a great place to come, people supporting and helping each other really is a breath of fresh air in this day and age hope every one has a pain free day keep smiling were all a day closer to our problems being delt with ;););)

Hi, it sounRAB to me also like that disc might be compressing your sciatic nerve. I know that L5/S1 can cause symptoms in the foot, as I've had problems in that area as well, with like symptoms. I don't know what a back rack is either, but wondering if it's like an inversion table or somethign like that? Like some sort of traction? Either way, I wouldnt do anything like that until you see a doc and get a new MRI. Good luck on your appointment and keep us posted.

Hi Whitty,
Welcome! I have to agree, it does sound like the L5 and the S1 with some compression on the nerve same thing that I had with the same foot issues too but I waited at least a year before I finally had my surgery, I should have done it sooner because it does get worse over time. Glad your seeing a doctor hope you don't wait as long as I did, I could barely walk by the time I went in! Good luck to you!
