First Moped/Bike help please anyone?

I've asked this loads now. When I went to ask my local bike shop about the Aprilla RS50 he said DON'T get one if you have no experience on a bike ( I don't). I'm 16 real soon and need a good reliable one for a 10 mile trip for 3 days a week (30 mile weekly). I don't want anything over the top but I like style as well as reliablity and around £1500 preferably no more. I've been looking at:

Derbi GP1 50 open
Aprilla SR50
TGB r50x
Keeway Matrix sport 50

Any bikes similar or if you can recommend any of the ones I've seen would help. Btw, is it good to go with a two stroke for a first bike becuase the RS50, SX50 and Derbi GPR50 are all tow stroke but geared not scooter type? Thanks
 
Not being from Oz I dont know your market well, but the Ape is a very track focused piece, and will be ill suited to commuiting. I recommend a dual sport of some sort. They are versitale, rugged and user friendly.
 
any 50cc or moped is a great starting point for anyone to start riding , do the safety course and happy riding . once you have your ride you will wonder how you did without it , no more waiting for buses or trains or lifts from family and friends
