President Obama needed a do-over to spell ‘Ohio’ correctly on the campus of Ohio State University this week.
Although Obama and several students at a campaign stop Tuesday morning at Sloopy’s Diner on the campus of OSU tweeted out photos of the president correctly posing as the ‘I’ in Ohio, another student supplied a photo of a spelling mishap to Mitt Romney’s campaign.
The photo, tweeted by Romney’s Ohio communications director, Christopher Maloney, shows Obama and three students all a little confused about how to spell the state’s name, with Obama holding his hands up in what seems to be an ‘H’ and as the third letter.
Maloney used the innocent gaffe as a springboard to a tweet, reading, “A word of advice to @BarackObama: It’s ‘O-H-I-O’ that has 18 electoral votes, not ‘O-I-H-O’.” Good thing it wasn’t potato that the president misspelled.
In the meantime, Barack wasn’t the only Obama having a bad day on Wednesday. The Weekly Standard notes that the first lady had the following advice to supporters of her husband’s re-election in Florida:
So that one new voter that you register in your precinct—think about it—that one neighbor that you get to the polls on November the 2nd, I want you to understand, that could be the one that makes the difference. That one conversation, that one new volunteer you recruit, that could be the one that puts this over the top. [Emphasis added]
Here is hoping that all Democrats take the Mrs. Obama’s message to heart, that they do their utmost to ensure a huge turnout on Nov. 2. They may have trouble casting their votes, however, because the election this year falls on Nov. 6, four days later.
One is reminded of a joke from the 2004 presidential election, which has been updated herein for the upcoming election:
A Message in the Public Interest
To show our solidarity as Americans, let’s all get together and show each other our support for the candidate of our choice. It’s time that we all came together, Democrats and Republicans alike.
If you support the policies and character of Mitt Romney, please drive with your headlights ‘ON’ during the day.
If you support Barack Obama, please drive with your headlights ‘OFF’ at night.
