A Jeep is a very capable vehicle even in stock form with a decent tire. Start off slow at a off-road park in your area with some "stock" vehicle or easy trails. Also have a friend or another friend with a vehicle go with you, don't wheel alone in the event you get stuck or break down. If you feel this is something you like to do, then go and spend a little money on a lift and stuff to make it more capable. Check quadratec.com or 4wd.com for sites that are Jeep specific. I've bought stuff from both and they are easy to deal with, just expensive on shipping costs.

I recently purchase a 1998 jeep cherokee sports classic for 2,000.
I had the brakes replaced.
I put in a new muffler.
It runs like a champ.
What do i need to do to take it off road?
I know i need a lift or suspension kit.
I just don't know where to even start. Can someone help me out and throw a site my way with a list of parts i should look at?
I don't have to much money because i'm going to school, i'm 17. this car has to last me 2 years to drive to and home from school and work.
