I went to the gym for the 1st time today and Ive started to go because I want to work on my stomach and legs so today I did

12 mins at speed 6 on the treadmill
14 mins on the bikes doing level 1 core work
then I did 3 sets of 12 leg curls
the the same for squats and crunches
then I did a machine we your legs are parted and you pull them out and in

I ate oatmeal before I went and a protein shake after and Im just about to eat a baked poataoe with beans
Was that enough for the first day and how can I improve?

That all looks good. I see you are separating training different body parts on different days.

I find it is better to start with a leg press, then move to leg curls. Just because the leg press uses more muscles at the same time (compound) and the leg curl isolates the hamstrings (I think?)

I prefer to eat very little carbohydrate like oatmeal and potatoes. As an endomorph, I gain muscle easily but also gain fat easily too. Ideally my diet would include protein at every meal and low carbs vegetables like cucumber, celery, peppers, maybe chickpeas, mushrooms, onion, broccoli, lettuce

It depends on your goals though – muscle building or athletic fitness, or somewhere in between.

As for basic supplements, Creatine is a good pre-workout supplement for energy. Glutamine is good for post-workout recovery. Daily multivitamin and a few fish oil capsules (not cod liver oil).

Hi Susie.
Good start, but need personal kowledge to recommend.
The gym will have somebody who will assess you and design you a program, really good idea to talk to them.
Good luck, Steve.
