First checkup for m50

Bon-bon

I'm a new cycle rider and chose the suzuki m50. First checkup is at 600m and i"m at 700m and have another two weeks to wait for the checkup. Am I looking at problems or is it ok to ride till then. I'm not a hard rider, just 40-60 on back country roads to get to work.

I talked to the service mechanic at my dealer, which I trust as it is a small, mom & pop shop I've been patronizing for quite a while, and he said as long as I don't go too far over 1,000 it won't be a problem. You should be fine as long as you're taking it easy and aren't getting it too hot between now and then. Of course, oil is relatively inexpensive compared to invalidating the warranty so I'd make sure and change it out before 1,000 just to be safe.

Just my 2c

Should be in your owners manual. FYI, I just got my bike back last week from the 1st service. $220. She does sound a little better (I could hear the valve that was loose before) and is much smoother. For what it's worth.

Cvillechopper: I'm glad that you posted how much you paid for your service. When I had my 500m done at my dealer, they charged $250, and I thought I was getting royally ripped-off! Of course, they had me over a barrel because they're the only show in town. I'm just now about to schedule my 4000m (I've put those 4K on in only 4 short months), so your price quote will help me to know what's reasonable (if I got ripped off on that initial maintenance, it sounds like we all are!). CardiacThug, I'd like to know what you ended up paying.

I'm coming up on my 600 mile service so I started calling around to different dealerships getting quotes. 5 to be exact and all 5 had different prices ranging from $180 to $335. I disregarded the one for $180 because they dried to tell me the valve service was not to be done on the first service. Owners manuel says different. After blowing them off the prices went from $220 to $335. All are larger dealerships with good reputations. The one for $220 is the closest to the house. You know where I'm going.

I have a prepaid service agreement for the next 3 years - covers 2 full services a year and unlimited oil and filter changes. The service invoice shows that the 600mile service would have been $225 before it was zeroed out.
I'm about to have the 4000 mile service done on Wednesday (I'm at 4500 miles) so we'll see if that one has a $ amount on it too.

BTW I paid $1099 for the prepaid service contract which also extended my warranty to 3 years.
The unlimited oil changes really is unlimited - I could bring it in every week if I wanted. The nice thing is when they do an oil change they also inspect everything, and wash the bike too. Pretty cool.

Action Powersports in Red Oak, TX charges $105+parts for the 600 mile service. Total is around $130! It's first come, first served, but they get it all done ASAP (same day at least)
If you're in the DFW area (XoZe for example) it may be worth the drive to Red Oak.
