First Car Help and Advice?

Hey, I'm looking for some advice on a first car. I know there isn't really a "cheap" option other than not driving but if some people could just answer with their cars (incl. year and stuffs), how much they paid for it and what the insurance was, it would be much help :)

My price range is probably around the £4k mark, for the car and insurance all together maybe £4.5k at a push.

And a nice looking car is always a bonus ;) and I am a male so uhmm.. more guyish cars please :)
