I'm currently writing an action story - so don't worry, this isn't for real life. The situation is, the character just got shot in the gut - from a distance. It's the middle of winter and getting to a hospital isn't a viable option at the moment. Assuming the bullet didn't hurt any vital organs, would there be a way to take care of it and keep moving around without causing more serious damage?
I was thinking of using the snow in some way, but not sure if that'd be realistic. Would applying clean, fresh snow to the wound stop the bleeding and numb the pain a little or would it just make everything worse?
