i have an n95-2 and i cannot update to v15 as my o2 provider doesn't seem to allow it. So i am considering changing the code to upgrade. I just wondered if it really is worth doing. And also if i do it will i have to do a hard reset or can i keep my apps and data. Any advice would be great especially from anyone who has done it.

Chances are you will have to reinstall most apps. If you do this update you will need to format the mass memory, if you dont video recording wont be smooth after the update. The updates worth doing for the flash support in the web browser.

Hi tinx

It is really easy to do using Nemesis and the guides are easy to follow i did it to get rid of the Voda branding on mine as soon as there was new firmware available as much prefer a generic device.

Loading new firmware wipes the phone clean to an as new state although it will leave the Mass memory in tact, personally i only install apps to the phone memory. But reformatted the Mass memory any way as after a firmware upgrade like to treat it as a new device. So even if it takes a short while to re load and reset up everything again i feel it's worth it.

Personally i feel it is always worthwhile as even if the branding is minimal a generic device is always best IMO.
