A few days ago I could open a .swf file I had saved on my computer and play it in firefox without a problem. I've been doing this for ages. Now, all of a sudden, when I double click on my .swf's, it opens up a new tab that just asks me if I want to download the file [which, is already saved on my machine, and it just creates an endless cycle] and won't open at all.
When I tried going to tools > options > applications, well, see for yourself: http://i.imgur.com/JoJ6z.png ; when I try to change the top one, all it allows me to pick from is "save file" and "use firefox". When I tried it on the "use firefox" setting, it tried to open the file, failed, and tried again, in an endless cycle. I have not tried changing the bottom one because I think that means it's using the plugin, which is what I want it to do, otherwise I wouldn't be able to view swf's when they're embedded on pages I believe? Which I can do. I can view a .swf if it's embedded on a page, just not when I try to directly open a .swf.
This is extremely irritating, I save lots of .swf's so I can view them you know.
