Firefighters, HELP military or not.?

It is almost impossible to actually get a military firefighter job.

Reasons :

1. they are cutting the number of fire fighters on active duty.
2. they are going to civilian fire fighters
3. everyone and their momma wants to be a fire fighter.

Civilian experience isn't gonna help get the job in the military.

The military firefighting school is an elite firefighting school. They teach everything from the normal stuff to fighting aircraft fires, bio hazard and toxic waste clean up. So not only would you be credited to your local fire station, but to airport fire fighting, ship firefighting and maybe even FEMA stuff with the cleanup knowledge.

hey everyone my name is James. i currently just graduated high school and already got my emt over the summer. i am taking some intro fire classes and was considering getting my Associates in fire technology. which is about 2 years. along with becoming a paramedic which i hope i can accomplish all by 20 years of age. as of now i know getting into city fire is nearly impossible."living in san diego at the moment, but i am willing to move anywhere" was considering if the military is that a good route? i was thinking air force. is the pay somewhat equal? i don't care to make tons of money. i just want to live comfortably. city i know makes anywhere from 40-60 grand annually and military i hear was around 23grand with all the good benefits though? some one please help me and give me some more information
from what i hear though is that military fire fighting is completely differernt from city. city requires more medical aid. they did say if i join the military it is a great way also just if you like the military way. which i don't mind i just always liked to be city. i just want to be a fire fighter so bad! and so does everyone else i just want it more. i hear paramedic and a associates in fire technology is the way to go which is 2 years but well worth it. they will see that you are well dedicated and went above and beyond to become a firefighter and thats what i want them to see in me. i was considering wildland until i get accepted into the city fire acd.
