Finding Old School Photo's?

Does anyone know if there is somewhere that schools keep old photo's of the pupils over the years. I belong to friends reunited and face book and we are all saying the same we cant find our old photo's, some people have them but not many. I found one site and went on that and it was a joke they say they found you and when you click on it its a monkey or a pig, don't get me wrong it made me laugh. There must be a database or something similar, so please can anyone help
