Finding Anime Names & General Anime Q&A

I'm new here, but right now looking for a good anime to watch. I was looking for something similar to my favourites. I mean I love Love Hina, Gunslinger Girl, ROD the TV, .Hack//SIGN and Azumanga Daioh the most. I'm still trying to figure out why I love them so much. I guess because of tragic/struggling love/friendship and drama heh. Also for the randomness heh.

I don't mind shoujo/shounen based animes that much, and it doesn't have to be full of action like Naruto/Inuyasha. I don't really mind if it's short either. Was kind of looking for a shounen equivilant of Azumanga Daoih... as long as its cute lol.

My friend suggested 2x2=Shinobuden, but after watching 6 episodes, it just wasn't my kind of anime. He also suggested Pumi Pumi Poemi, but to watch Excel Saga first... but now I'm a bit scared on what they'll be like...lol.

I guess thats still a little vague maybe... but all suggestions would be greatly appreciated ^_^
 
My friend needs help finding an anime and it'd be greatly appreciated if someone could help "It's a mecha about people who fit in robotic suits that are almost like nearly biological and one of the guys has like problems mentally and physically after some accident or something , they commonly fight in orbit around the plannet on some kind of space station, it was on cheese TV which is an Australian cartoons show in the morning"
