Accountants with a CPA license make the best financial managers. I'm currently pursuing a double major in accounting and finance in order to complete the 150 credit requirement to sit for the CPA exam.
Accounting offers more versatility, higher pay, great opportunity for advancement, and great connections.
A major drawback is the longer hours.
Finance can be quite lucrative, but advancement is a bit more fickle than in most professions. A lot has to do with your savvy and professional networking skills.
You really don't need to make a decision between accounting and finance before the 2nd semester of your Sophomore year in college. At least in my school, I had to take 2 accounting classes, 2 economics classes, and 2 Finance/Business Law classes before I could declare my major.
Test the waters, and see what you like. I'm sure that talking to your academic advisor as well as your professors will give you a better idea of the pros and cons of each major.
