My husband's employer is in Chapter 11. He has, luckily, held onto his job, but his salary is down terribly.
It's down to an amount we can't live on, and I've cut expenses to the bone. We have NO extras. We pay rent, a car pymt, electricity, the cheapest home phone, food and medicine. We don't eat out and we have no extras. There's nothing left to save on.
He has looked into a child support modification, but not followed through, even though it sounds pretty easy. He's effectively paying 70% of his income in CS, when he's meant to pay 28%, because his salary has decreased so much.
His salary has been down for seven months, but he seems not to connect that he must look for a new job. He seems to think he has a job, so things are good. The fact is, he must find a new job making more, AND I must find a job.
I'm looking, and I would truly take anything. What scares me is, he isn't even looking. He's worried, but he doesn't seem to connect the fact that we can't pay our bills with the fact that he's not making enough and must find a new job.
I'm scared to death, and I don't know what to do. That I also need a job is obvious, and I spent eight hours a day+ looking. What can I do/ say to help my husband realize his job isn't what it was, and he has to look?
I know many people are struggling.
